14 Japanese (fun) facts

  1. It is a super safe country ! People are really respectful and nice.

  2. Garbage trucks are tiny! The garbage men run behind the truck and spot the garbage cans in the street.

  3. Water is free and self-service.

  4. In the restaurants, a small service is given to us to wash our hands.

  5. The futons are very comfortable and we sleep well on them.

  6. Practically free wifi everywhere!

  7. People aren't allow to smoke in the street. They can only smoke in bars, restaurants and smoking area.

  8. Everything has its music: the opening of the train, the closing of the doors, entering a konbini, the passage of garbage trucks, the ringing of the school bell, etc. After a moment, you have all that sounds in our head, all the time, even after leaving Japan several weeks ago.

  9. With the JR Pass, we don't have access to the NOZOMI trains.

  10. Now you can use your credit card to pay and they have contactless. But, if you visit little town or a more remote area it is great to have cash.

  11. We saw a lot of asian couple where the guy was holding his girlfriend's wrist, not her hand.

  12. Garbage bags are placed in the street and covered with a net.

  13. The Japanese often wear flip-flops with socks or ballerinas with socks.

  14. Genbaku Dome was designed by a Dutch architect. That's why it stood up to the atomic bomb.
