Ruissalo is an island in the Archipelago Sea and a district of the city of Turku. The island is located in the southwest of Turku, just between Pansio, a district of Turku, and Hirvensalo island.
Ruissalo is mainly covered by forests. A big part of the island is a protected area due to the creation on a national park. The island is easily accessible: you can walk, take a bus or a boat. You can find oak forests, charming 19th Century villas, Ruissalo Spa hotel, National Park, Honkapirtti restaurant and Botanical Gardens.
Moreover, Ruissalo is known for the rock festival called Ruisrock. Ruisrock is a rock music festival created in 1970 which is an important summer festival of Finland and one of the deans of the festivals of rock music in Europe. This festival is the most enduring rock festival.
I really loved this place. That is so natural (R U kidding ? Lolal). There I filmed a lot to create a clip for a French metal music brand called Orionys (fb page). The place is really beautiful. Paths have been created, just follow them. We also found a great point of view on the top of a hill.
You can walk in the forest with the whole family and it will be a great day !
